Plastic pallets and wood pallets are the base of almost every shipment, and the right choice depends on whether the pallet will sit on the floor, in a rack or under a stack. Wholesale Industry quotes new Monoflo nestable, rackable and stackable plastic pallets alongside used and reconditioned wood and plastic pallets when lots are available.

Pallet options on this page

The pallets category has two sides: new, factory-built Monoflo plastic pallets with defined model numbers, and used or reconditioned pallets that come in intermittent lots. New pallets give you a repeatable specification; used lots cost less to put into service but vary from lot to lot.

Nestable vs rackable vs stackable

These words describe how a pallet is supported and stored, and they are not interchangeable.

Nestable

Legs or feet nest into the pallet below when empty, so a stack of empties takes much less height. Nestable pallets are typically floor and conveyor pallets; rack use needs confirmation for the exact model.

Rackable

Built to span rack beams with the load carried between supports. Provide your rack drawing, span and load so the model's rating can be checked against the real support conditions.

Stackable

Designed so loaded pallets can sit on top of one another, often as part of a container system with a matched top cap.

Never set rack or stacking loads from a pallet's type name alone. Check the rated capacity of the exact model for static, dynamic and racked loads in your operation.

New plastic pallets vs used pallets

Footprint and handling

The 48 × 40 in footprint is the common North American grocery and general-freight size, and two listed models cover it. The 48 × 45 in models match container systems built on that footprint; see container pallet systems for pallets quoted with top caps. The 30 × 42 in, 37 × 37 in and 47 × 39 in sizes fit specific loads and layouts, so choose them when your product or equipment calls for them. Check fork entry on every model against your pallet jacks and forklifts, and confirm whether a deck is open or closed if you need easy cleaning or a flat surface for small cartons.

Plastic or wood: cost over the life of the pallet

A wood pallet usually costs less to buy, and for one-way shipments that leave your building for good it is often the sensible choice. Plastic pallets cost more up front but resist moisture, do not shed splinters or nails, are easy to wash, and keep the same dimensions trip after trip, which helps automated equipment run smoothly. In a closed loop where pallets come back, the per-trip cost of a plastic pallet can end up lower than repeatedly buying or repairing wood. Count the expected trips, losses and repair costs before deciding.

Common applications

Pallet buying checklist

  1. Material, footprint and condition (new, used or reconditioned).
  2. Floor, rack or stacked use, with load and rack details.
  3. Fork entry and handling equipment.
  4. Exact model, if new, and its rating for your arrangement.
  5. Quantity, delivery ZIP or pickup preference.

Minimums vary by product and condition. Used pallets can often be picked up by arrangement at the yard where the lot is staged.

Request a pallet quote

Send material, footprint, condition, use, quantity and delivery ZIP through the request a quote page, or call 855-964-2534. Pallets can be combined with containers or totes in one order. LTL freight is quoted to your ZIP and truckloads are quoted individually.

Frequently asked questions

Are nestable plastic pallets rackable?

Not by default. Nestable describes how empty pallets store inside each other. Rack suitability depends on the model, the rack span and support layout, and the load. If you need to rack pallets, provide rack details and check the rated capacity of the exact model, or choose a rackable model such as the RP 4840-6-II.

Do you sell 48 × 40 plastic pallets?

Yes. Two new Monoflo 48 × 40 in models are listed: the NP 4840-6-IM nestable pallet and the NP 4840-6 IM-W G2 Gen-2 nestable pallet, plus the RP 4840-6-II Gen-2 rackable pallet. Used and reconditioned plastic pallets in 48 × 40 may also be available in lots.

Are used wood pallets always available?

No. Used and reconditioned wood and plastic pallets are offered when lots are available, and sizes and condition vary. Send the dimensions, quantity, the condition you will accept and how the pallets will be used, and current availability is confirmed in the quote. Larger needs can be filled from more than one lot.

What should I ask about a used pallet lot?

Ask for the dimensions, construction, the type of repairs that have been made and whether any boards or blocks are damaged. For export or regulated shipments, ask about required treatment and marking. Request photos of the lot before ordering and confirm the details in the quote.

Can I pick up pallets instead of paying for freight?

Pickup can be arranged at the yard where the order is staged, in Pennsville, New Jersey or Tampa, Florida. Otherwise LTL freight is quoted to your ZIP and full truckloads are quoted individually. New factory pallets may ship from another origin, which the quote confirms.
