Choosing the right option

Quote the containers, pallet and top cap as a matched arrangement. Buying by nominal footprint alone can leave components that do not fit together.

Container pallet systems pair a plastic pallet, a layer of containers and a matched top cap into one secure unit load. Wholesale Industry quotes new Monoflo 48 × 45 in nestable, structural-foam nestable and stackable pallets with TC 4845 top caps for collapsible and straight-wall container programs.

What a container pallet system is

A pallet system is the base and lid for a load of smaller containers. The pallet locates the bottom layer, the containers stack on it, and the top cap closes the stack so it can be strapped or banded and handled by forklift as a single unit. When components are designed together, the load stays square, containers do not walk off the edges, and stacked unit loads sit flat on each other. When they are bought separately by nominal size, the parts may not fit, which is the main point of this page: quote the pallet, cap and containers as one arrangement.

Choosing the pallet and cap

Nestable base

Nestable pallets stack inside each other when empty, which cuts return and storage space. They suit loops where pallets travel back empty.

Stackable base

Stackable pallets are chosen when loaded unit loads are stacked on each other. Check the rated capacity of the exact model for your stacked load.

Top cap

Two TC 4845 versions are listed. The cap must match the container layout and the pallet below; confirm the version against your system.

Which containers go on these systems

The 48 × 45 in footprint is shared by several container families in the catalog. Collapsible programs use the systems with smaller folding containers such as the 24 × 15 in handheld knockdown containers. Straight-wall programs build layers of straight wall containers, and pallet-sized bulk containers and bulk container lids come in a 48 × 45 in footprint too. A shared nominal size does not make components interchangeable, so the layout is confirmed model by model. For a deeper look at collapsible bin programs, see our dedicated collapsible container site, Collapsible Pallet Containers.

Common applications

Inspecting and maintaining a pallet system

A unit-load system is only as good as its weakest part. When loads come back, check pallets for cracked deck surfaces or damaged runners, check top caps for broken corners that no longer locate the containers, and pull containers whose walls no longer lock. Replacing damaged parts with the same model keeps stacks square and avoids forcing mismatched components together. Keep a small stock of spare caps and pallets, since they are easy to separate from the containers and lose at customer sites, and record which top-cap version you run so replacements match.

Specifying the unit load

  1. List all component model numbers you already use.
  2. Describe the loaded layout: containers per layer, number of layers and total height.
  3. Describe the return layout: collapsed or nested containers, nested pallets, caps.
  4. Choose nestable, structural-foam nestable or stackable, based on your handling equipment and stacking.
  5. State the securing method, such as straps or banding.
  6. Set the quantity of each part. Programs often need more containers than pallets and caps.

New factory components carry minimum order quantities; minimums vary by product and condition and are confirmed in the quote.

Request a pallet system quote

Send component models, loaded and return layouts, quantities and the delivery ZIP through the quote request form, or call 855-964-2534. Pallets, caps and containers can be quoted together. Freight is quoted to your ZIP and full truckloads are quoted individually.

Frequently asked questions

What is included in a container pallet system?

A system is usually a pallet base, a set of containers and a top cap that closes the stack. On this page the listed components are 48 × 45 in nestable, structural-foam nestable and stackable pallets plus two TC 4845 top caps. Containers are selected from their own categories and quoted together.

Can I use any 48 × 45 pallet with my containers?

Not reliably. Components that share a nominal footprint can still differ in how they locate the containers and cap. Specify the container model and quote the pallet and cap as a matched arrangement so the fit is confirmed before you buy.

Should I choose a nestable or stackable pallet?

Choose nestable when empty pallets are returned or stored and space matters. Choose stackable when loaded unit loads are stacked on each other. Check the rated capacity of the exact model for your load, stack height and handling equipment either way.

Can I buy just top caps or just pallets?

Yes. Replacing a single component in an existing system is common. Send the model numbers of the parts you already use, or photos and dimensions if the markings are unclear, so the replacement is confirmed against your current containers and pallets.

Are these pallet systems new or used?

The pallets and top caps listed here are new Monoflo components. Minimum order quantities apply and vary by product and condition. Used and reconditioned wood and plastic pallets are offered separately in the pallets category when available, but they are not matched system components and should not be assumed to fit your containers or caps.
