Bulk container lids from Wholesale Industry include used and reconditioned 48 × 40 and 48 × 45 lids and new Monoflo bulk container top caps. A lid has to match the container model, not just the footprint, so every request is checked against your container before the quote is confirmed.

Why footprint alone is not enough

Two containers with the same nominal footprint can have different rim profiles, corner posts, locating lugs and wall heights. A lid that does not seat properly can slide in transit, let in dust or water, or keep loaded containers from stacking securely. That is why used and reconditioned lid requests are kept separate from new manufacturer top caps, and why each request starts with the container model.

How to identify your container

  1. Find the maker and model on the container label or molded into a wall or base.
  2. Measure the outside length and width at the rim, not at the base.
  3. Photograph the rim profile, the corners and any lugs or slots the lid locates on.
  4. Note whether loaded containers will be stacked on top of the lid.
  5. Note whether the lid must be secured with straps, clips or other devices.

Used, reconditioned or new

Used and reconditioned lids suit fleets replacing lost or damaged lids, where cost matters and some cosmetic wear is acceptable. Ask about warping, cracks and the condition of edges, since a distorted lid will not sit flat. New Monoflo top caps are factory items for matched Monoflo containers and pallet systems; they ship by freight quoted to your ZIP, and minimums vary by product and condition, with factory items often carrying higher minimums.

Checking lids on arrival

When used or reconditioned lids arrive, test-fit a few on your containers before putting the full lot into service. Set each lid on an empty container and check that it sits flat with no rocking, that corners and lugs engage, and that a loaded container stacks squarely on top if your process calls for stacking. Note any lids that are warped or cracked and report them with photos. A quick check at receiving is easier than finding a poor fit after containers are loaded and on the move.

Planning lid quantities

Lids tend to go missing faster than containers in a closed-loop program, because they come off at the dock and do not always travel back. When ordering for a fleet, count containers by model and decide whether every container needs a lid or only those that travel loaded. Some fleets keep spare lids per model on hand so replacements are not an emergency. If your fleet is mixed, keep a record of which lid fits which container so reorders go to the right model.

Lids are often ordered together with collapsible bulk containers or container pallet systems, so the pairing can be confirmed on one quote. For a site dedicated to these bins and their lids, see our dedicated collapsible container site.

Request a lid quote

Send the container maker and model, footprint, rim measurements or photos, condition preference, quantity and delivery ZIP through request a quote, or call 855-964-2534. Frequently asked questions

Will a 48 × 40 lid fit any 48 × 40 bulk container?

No. The 48 × 40 footprint is nominal, and rim profiles, corner features and locating lugs vary by maker and model. A lid has to be matched to the actual container. Send the container maker and model, rim measurements and photos so the offered lid can be checked for fit.

What is the difference between a lid and a top cap?

On this page, lids are the used and reconditioned 48 × 40 and 48 × 45 lids offered for bulk containers of those footprints. Top caps are new Monoflo manufacturer models, such as the TC 4840-2-IM, designed for specific Monoflo containers and pallet systems. Both must be matched to the exact container.

Can I buy lids without buying containers?

Yes. Many requests are for replacement lids on containers already in service. Send the container maker and model, footprint, rim details or photos and the quantity needed. If you are also buying containers, add the lids to the same request so the pairing is confirmed together.

Are there minimums for new Monoflo top caps?

New top caps are factory items, and minimums vary by product and condition. Factory items often carry higher minimums than used or reconditioned lids. The exact minimum, availability and freight to your ZIP are confirmed in your quote for the specific cap model.
